I remember going to an Adsense meeting at Google in 2005 (or maybe 2006) and I asked the Engg manager there why they did not let me just create a theme that I could point to in the adsense code and I recall she said “Great idea, email me, here’s my card”. And I did. Some things just take their own time.

Today, Google announced that you can soon change how your Adsense units on your site look like without actually tweaking the code on the page. Finally. It always seemed to make more sense to me to just say

google_ad_theme = ”123456789″

instead of

google_color_border = “FFFFFF”;
google_color_bg = “FFFFFF”;
google_color_link = “003366″;
google_color_text = “000000″;
google_color_url = “0000FF”;
google_ui_features = “rc:10″;

and let the mapping of google_ad_theme be maintained on Adsense.

I’ve noticed that famous people often get introduced on TV as a ‘Great American’. Is this usage common outside of the US? In India, I don’t recall anyone famous being referred to as a ‘Great Indian’. Maybe a ‘Great Indian *something*’ – writer, painter, batsman, singer etc. but not a plain old ‘Great Indian’. I wonder what they’d call David Heinemeier Hansson over in Denmark – “You, sir, are a Great Dane.”?
